2010 Mercedes-Benz Polo Challenge
Once
again, Bridgehampton Polo Club will host the coveted Mercedes-Benz Polo Challenge. This summer’s matches promise to be among
the most exciting in the sport of polo. Some of the world's greatest equestrian athletes will compete for one of the sport's
most treasured prizes.
An Overview of the Sport
A polo match lasts about 2 hours and is divided into 6 timed periods called
chukkers. The object of the game is to hit the
ball down the field and through the goal
posts to score. During half time, spectators go onto
the field in a social tradition called divot stomping.
